The 25 Best D3 Baseball Programs
The ranking comes from results, not opinion: every NCAA Division III tournament from 2016 to 2026 (there was none in 2020). A program earns 1 point for each tournament, 2 more for reaching the last 16, 3 more for the World Series, 2 more for playing for the title, and 2 more for winning it. Full method ↓

- No dynasty. Ten tournaments produced ten different champions: Trinity (TX), Cal Lutheran, UT Tyler, Chapman, Salisbury, Eastern Connecticut State, Lynchburg, Misericordia, Wisconsin-Whitewater, and Denison.
- Salisbury and Johns Hopkins lead on consistency. Salisbury made all ten tournaments, won in 2021, and reached the 2022 title game. Johns Hopkins has five World Series trips, more than anyone, without a title yet.
- No athletic scholarships. D3 schools give academic and need-based aid only, which is why grades decide so much of the cost. Our D3 recruiting guide explains how that money and the admissions support work.

How We Ranked the D3 Programs
- Ten tournaments of results. Every NCAA Division III tournament from 2016 to 2026, the 2020 tournament having been canceled. Results through 2025 come from the NCAA's D3 baseball championships records book; 2026 comes from the NCAA's official brackets.
- Points by round reached. 1 point for the tournament, then 2 for the last 16, 3 for the World Series, 2 for the title game, and 2 for the title, added together. The last-16 round (super regionals) was played in 2019 and from 2022 on; in 2016 to 2018 and 2021 the eight World Series teams get those points.
- Ties. Equal points break on World Series trips, then the last 16, then alphabetically.
- Who is left out. Birmingham-Southern closed in 2024 and UT Tyler now plays D2, so neither is ranked. Regular-season records, conference titles, and draft picks do not count. We update the table after each D3 championship.
